The Organization of American States (OAS), through the Department of Human Development and Education (DHDE) and the University of Manchester, through the OAS Partnership Programme for Education and Training (PAEC), are offering scholarships to qualified candidates of the Americas to participate in the PhD programmes within the University of Manchester.
The programme will be taught onsite in Manchester, United Kingdom commencing September 21, 2015 and will run for three (3) years with an approximate end date of September 2018. Courses will be imparted in English.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- To qualify for the scholarship, the candidate must have a letter of unconditional admission to the Graduate programme.
- The student must not have received other academic scholarships from the OAS or from the University of Manchester for the same level of studies and/or programmes as requested in the 2015 OAS/UOM application.
- The student must be a citizen and/or permanent legal resident of the OAS member state, listed on the programme list on the link.
- OAS staff, individuals who maintain employment contracts with the OAS, the staff of Permanent Missions to the OAS and their immediate relatives are not eligible to receive OAS/UOM scholarships.
BENEFITS
The scholarship covers full tuition fees, subsistence allowance of £800 per month and a one-time installation fee of US$1,200 to help defray the cost of the airfare to travel to the University.
AWARDEES RESPONSIBILITIES
- Registration fees, immigration fees, research expenses, study visit, settling-in fees, study materials, health care costs are not covered by the National Health Service, airfare, visa charges, etc.
- Applicants will need to show they have funds in their bank account to cover their expenses for 28 days when they apply for their visa. Applicants planning to travel with a spouse or other eligible family members will be required to provide proof of sufficient funds to support those dependents.
