SAINT LUCIA’S NEWEST YOUTH AMBASSADOR, NATHAN FRANCIS, WILL TRAVEL TO THE US.

The recently-selected US Embassy youth ambassador to Saint Lucia, Nathan Francis, has called on all youth to aspire for such appointments as with them come great opportunities.

Saint Lucia’s newest youth ambassador is the only ambassador serving who is also currently a secondary school student. About to enter into the fifth form at Saint Mary’s College, Nathan said being an ambassador will open up a world of opportunity.

“I can build several networks with different individuals, and build links in the US. As I am looking to do further my studies in the US I think that this can help me and give me a boost, and when applying to different colleges, that also looks good that you represented your country as a youth ambassador. So I think all of these things can bring about various opportunities for me. Also you never know who is going to be at that program, who may give you a big break or really give you a chance to make yourself big out there.”

The US Embassy’s Youth Ambassadors Program will see the young ambassador representing Saint Lucia for three weeks in the United States, a role he has given much thought to.

“Well my role is to be a representative for my country in the US over a three-week period, and allowing the other representatives taking part learn about my country.”

Nathan has expressed that although he believes that the position comes with its challenges, he is ready to meet them head on.
