Sixteen students have been granted scholarships to Taiwan universities.
The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Gender Relations and Sustainable Development will host the 2016 Taiwan scholarship awards ceremony on Tuesday, July 26.
This year, a total of 138 Saint Lucians applied for the scholarships offered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' International Cooperation Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF), and the I-Shou University School of Medicine. Competition was keen because of the high quality of candidates.
Saint Lucia has more than 60 students currently studying in Taiwan, and more than 50 who have completed their studies in Taiwan and have returned to Saint Lucia. To date, a total of about 130 Saint Lucian students have been granted scholarships offered by the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
The awards ceremony will be held on July 26 at 2:30 p.m. at the Orchid Center, Union.
