THE CLUB AIMS TO EXPAND ACCESS TO ITS SERVICES IN THE SOUTH OF THE ISLAND.
The Net Blazers Basketball Club is proud to announce a new partnership with the Laborie Credit Union, which has committed financial support to assist the club in its expansion to the south of the island. This collaboration marks a major step in Net Blazers’ mission to empower young people through basketball and community development.
The support of Laborie Credit Union is rooted in their commitment to community development and youth empowerment. Their investment ensures that Net Blazers can continue creating opportunities for athletes across the island while building a strong foundation for the future of the sport.
Strengthening the South: Coaching, Development, and Growth
With this new partnership, Net Blazers will launch its southern hub, which will serve as the core of training and development in the southern region of Saint Lucia. A coaches’ clinic will be the first initiative, ensuring that all coaching staff are properly qualified and equipped to lead programs and expansion efforts.
The southern expansion will also provide:
- Regular training sessions for youth athletes
- Community outreach programs to engage schools and families
- Athlete and coaching development through ongoing camps and clinics
- The formation of a Net Blazers Southern Team, giving young players a pathway into competitive basketball.
“This partnership for us is very important because having corporate organizations input funding into grassroots youth development programs gives us the ability to provide the tools and resources necessary for initiatives such as this one to happen. It allows us to use basketball as a tool for holistic development,” said Mia George, President of Net Blazers Basketball Club. “We are looking forward to having basketball programs not only for Laborie but also for neighboring communities, as this allows us to get basketball off the ground—especially in the south. And it is such a pleasure to be partnering with Laborie Credit Union and having it culminate with our 5-year anniversary.”
“Our decision to partner with Net Blazers in sponsoring grassroots basketball was a natural fit. We’ve always been committed to the development of our community, and we see sports as a powerful tool for social change and youth empowerment. We’re proud to be a part of a program that builds not just athletes, but also strong, positive, and productive community members,” said a representative of Laborie Credit Union.
Impact and Call for Wider Support
Over the last five years, Net Blazers has been instrumental in introducing and nurturing basketball across Saint Lucia. Initiatives like Bringing Buckets Home have already reached hundreds of young athletes, and this new chapter in the south will further broaden the reach of the sport. Partnerships like the one with Laborie Credit Union demonstrate what is possible when corporate Saint Lucia invests in youth and sports development. Net Blazers urges other organizations to “take a page out of Laborie Credit Union’s book” and join in supporting initiatives that change lives and create opportunities through basketball.
